Village Co-Op
You really ought to check out the good people at 8 Maheke Street in St Heliers. It’s quite the quirky little local store. Normally when we’re in this neck of the woods we get some Kapiti Ice-Cream from the dairy on the main road.
Serendipity shined on us today as we had to walk from the main road out back to the Video Ezy, bringing us past the shop pictured above. Luckily there was large signage on the store side to let us know there was ice-cream goodness being sold within.

French Chocolate and Butterscotch Fudge Ice-Cream
$4.00 for two scoops. The little gingerbread dude is included in the price. The cup doesn’t lend itself to having more than two scoops, but has the cool effect of looking and feeling like an ice-cream cone. $4.00 is cheap for two scoops of hand-made ice-cream, but the scoops aren’t quite as generous as other establishments.
Taste wise? French Chocolate was basically chocolate flavoured ice-cream with chocolate pieces. It was nice, but nothing you haven’t tasted before. Butterscotch Fudge on the other hand, was a bit of a revelation. So good I stopped sharing after offering one taste. I completely forgot. Gingerbread dude was a nice touch.
Will definitely be offering them repeat business when we’re back in St Heliers on a hot day.
